Fresh Produce Day on Thursday and Monday!
Our fresh produce day at the South Suburban Food Coop has always been Thursday. However, many of our members have let us know that they would like to see produce available on other days, especially Monday and Tuesday when supplies have run out. We are fortunate that two of our members are willing to make a trip each week to our produce vendor, Goodness Greeness, to purchase additional produce to replenish our shelves with.
We have decided to begin a new phase at our store - having fresh produce available at the beginning of our week as well, so you will be able to come to your coop and find the produce you want without waiting or having to shop someplace else.
We are grateful to our members for continuing to let us know what they want to see at "our" store. We want to keep everyone happy and healthy, and being able to purchase healthy produce throughout the week helps us all further that goal. Do come in early in the week if you don't normally do, and see what we have in store for you!
We Have Moved!
After 38 years the SSFC has moved to its new home at 208 Forest Blvd, a beautiful building in downtown Park Forest, IL. What a journey this has been! Only six months ago it looked like we might be closing our doors and now we are in a wonderful new location! We are not only in a really cute place, (a warm brick wall on one side and a fun mural on the outside of our building), we have lots of exposure to the public, and plenty of people who are excited to come to our store to shop!
What has been most remarkable by far is what our fabulous members have done to make this move possible. Beginning with loaning funds for the move, we have received all kinds of time and talent, generously given by our members. That talent has included painting, carpentry work, refrigeration, electrical work, organizing, designing, planning, packing and moving, floor sealing, marketing, and never ever forget all the cleaning!
Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone for making this journey possible, and setting us on a new exciting course. Who knows what will become of the SSFC in the next 37 years!
